Outreach Campaign Overcomes Challenges to Deliver COVID-19 Vaccines to Those In Need
Empowering Healthcare Outreach: A Digital Solution to COVID-19 Vaccine Distribution

The COVID-19 pandemic posed unprecedented challenges, particularly in ensuring equitable vaccine distribution. Healthcare services, marketing, and education organizations faced the daunting task of delivering accurate information and ensuring vaccines reached those who needed them most. In response to this urgent need, our company was brought on board to design a robust outreach campaign aimed at delivering COVID-19 vaccines to underserved populations in Dade County and Duval County Florida.
The Florida Division of Emergency Management partnered with local community leaders to create VAX305.com in Miami, FL and VAX904.com in Jacksonville, FL. VAX305 & VAX904 are each one-stop sources to find out if you’re eligible for the vaccine, where you can get the vaccine, and how you can engage with community leaders at events that will be designed to confront and combat challenges that may be preventing or delaying your plans for vaccination. Through a combination of innovative web development, real-time insights, and custom micro-applications, we empowered local health services to optimize their outreach efforts and successfully increase vaccination rates.

The project presented several key challenges, including a diverse population, varying levels of internet accessibility, and the need for real-time data to track vaccine distribution. Under the leadership of Obi Umunna, our approach involved the following strategies:
- Real-Time Insights & Reporting: Leveraging AWS Lambda and DynamoDB, we built an intelligent reporting system capable of tracking vaccine distribution in real-time. This system collected, processed, and visualized key metrics like geo-locations,vaccination rates, appointment bookings, and resource allocation.
- Web Development & MicroApps: To accommodate different user needs, we developed a responsive and user-friendly website along with targeted MicroApps. These micro-applications were designed to streamline appointment scheduling and provide users with localized information regarding vaccine availability, transportation options, and public health updates.
- Collaboration Portal: A centralized collaboration portal was created to facilitate seamless communication between healthcare providers, local government officials, and other stakeholders. This portal allowed for better coordination of resources, real-time adjustments to vaccination site operations, and rapid response to any emerging issues or gaps in outreach.

- Increased Vaccination Rates: The real-time insights and collaborative tools enabled local health organizations to rapidly adjust their strategies, leading to a significant increase in vaccine distribution in both Dade and Duval counties.
- Improved Accessibility: By offering localized vaccine appointment booking and clear, timely communication through the website and MicroApps, we ensured that vulnerable and underserved populations had better access to vaccines.
- Efficient Use of Resources: The data-driven approach allowed for more efficient use of resources, with health organizations able to prioritize areas of high need and allocate vaccine doses accordingly.
- Long-Term Benefits: In addition to overcoming the immediate challenge of COVID-19 vaccine distribution, the systems developed during the campaign will continue to support public health efforts, providing valuable tools for future healthcare outreach initiatives.
This project demonstrates the power of digital transformation in healthcare, showcasing how advanced technologies can be leveraged to solve complex challenges in times of crisis. By combining the expertise of IT consulting with cutting-edge technologies like AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, and real-time data analytics, we were able to make a meaningful impact during one of the most critical public health challenges in modern history.
